UC Davis Welcomes New Executive Director to Lead International and Access Programs
Anneli Adams Retires after a Lifetime of Service to International Education
Anneli Adams, associate dean of International and Access Programs (IAP) at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education, is retiring. A pillar of the international education community, Anneli’s seven-year tenure at UC Davis was marked by resilience, strategic growth and an unwavering belief in the power of global connections to improve people’s lives.
“Anneli has been a visionary leader during some of the most tumultuous times in international education,” said Julie Greenwood, dean of UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education. “Her ability to steer our programs through the challenges of the pandemic, while strengthening our partnerships with top international universities has left a lasting legacy at UC Davis.”
Anneli adopted a deeply human approach to her work—one grounded in empathy and dedication to her students, partners and colleagues. Whether navigating global uncertainty or championing new pathways for international students, she led with heart, optimism and strategy.
“I’ve always believed in the transformative power of international education to build bridges, spark innovation and deepen understanding,” said Anneli. “It’s been one of the great privileges of my career to serve this incredible team and community. I have every confidence that IAP will continue to thrive—our next chapter is in very capable hands.”
Stepping confidently into that next chapter is Jacob Hosier, who has been appointed as executive director of International and Access Programs. With nearly 17 years at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education Jake brings a deep well of experience and a passion for advancing global learning. He most recently served as director of Access Programs where he led the university’s largest visiting student study and research programs, the Global Study Program and the GREAT Summer Research Program.
“I’m honored to follow in the leadership of Anneli,” Jake said. “I’ve learned a great deal from her and look forward to building current and new partnerships, both on campus and abroad, in the service of our students.”
Jake’s professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to cross-cultural education and access. With a master’s in liberal studies, experience teaching abroad supporting global learners, he’s uniquely equipped to guide IAP. He is collaborative, strategic and mission driven and, notably, a UC Davis Aggie himself.
Under Jake’s leadership, IAP is poised to expand its campus collaborations and partnerships with international universities and governmental institutions.
Congratulations to Anneli on her retirement, and a warm welcome to Jake as he embarks on this exciting new role.
