This elective is only for 500-level students. You can only sign up for one elective. This course is a continuation of the 100-400 IEP Listening & Speaking curriculum, challenging students at the low intermediate level. The content of listening tasks will be on everyday talk – conversational English, situational/functional dialogues – and informational reports about common cultural themes – family, work, lifestyles, world cultures, current events, and so on. Students will spend most class time doing listening and speaking activities; using new vocabulary, everyday expressions, and idioms; practicing grammar at their level; improving their pronunciation; etc. Also, contact assignments will be given so that students will interact in English with people outside of class. Finally, there will be a number of short presentations assigned as well.
