International Custom Programs

The UC Davis Extension Center for International Education (CIE) is a leader in designing custom programs that meet the particular needs of groups and individuals. For more than 35 years, the Center for International Education has been providing custom solutions for international organizations, partner universities, government-sponsored grants and foreign ministries of education. These programs range from those emphasizing professional skills to those focusing on more academic or scientific subject matters. Our custom programs also offer an array of courses in English-language skills for professional, academic and/or social purposes, academic preparation and U.S. culture for university and youth groups. Programs can be delivered in California and abroad.

International custom programs are based on specialized knowledge from the University of California, Davis, or on a specific need utilizing knowledge from multiple institutions, including the University of California, members of industry, and the U.S. and state governments. The UC Davis Extension Center for International Education identifies outstanding instructors to develop the highest quality curricula tailored to specific client needs. Depending on the length and content of study, students in custom programs may receive certificates of attendance, certificates of academic credit or diplomas.

Custom e-learning and distance education

The UC Davis Extension Center for International Education has developed a strong online learning education portfolio. It possesses a breadth of courses and certificate programs that can be accessed throughout the world. We can design hybrid programs that include online curriculum with traditional on-site instruction, based on both internal University of California strengths and current needs of international clients. Some program examples include information technology, teacher training, education, agriculture, viticulture, human resources, business and leadership, and English composition.

Our Process

  1. Please review our website for our wide range of course and program offerings. Then contact us to discuss your ideas for your particular group. We will ask you about your group's profile and needs, and provide you with information about sample programs.
  2. You will work with one of our program coordinators to explore program options in more detail, including curriculum, site visits and guest speakers, housing and other student services (bus passes, ID cards, computer access accounts, welcome and closing ceremony receptions, airport pick-up, etc). Schedules, dates and fees will be negotiated and a written proposal summarizing your program will be provided.
  3. When all of the details of the proposal are agreed upon, we will prepare a final proposal and program agreement for signature on both sides. If you are working with an independent agency for administrative services, we will work with them to handle logistical details. Payment for the customized program is typically via wire transfer or credit card.
  4. We then confirm all services and instructional details, including instructors, speakers and course visits. We implement the program according to the terms of the program agreement. At the conclusion of the program, all aspects of the program are evaluated by the students. The program coordinator will provide a detailed report, including student evaluations, feedback and suggestions for improvement.
