    Learn from Highly Qualified and Experienced Instructors

    Our staff and instructors are experts in the fields of teaching English as a second language (TESOL), second language acquisition, intercultural communication and linguistics. We require that all of our instructors have a minimum M.A. in TESOL or a master’s in a related field with a TESOL certificate. In addition, many of our instructors have extensive research, teaching, training and publication backgrounds.

    Placement by English Language Ability

    Upon arrival, you will be given an English placement assessment  and placed in appropriate levels accordingly. English proficiency levels are expected to be low-intermediate and above.

    Optional Field Trips

    Each quarter, optional trips are planned to scenic, cultural and historic places like San Francisco, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, the Napa Valley wine region, and Los Angeles. The field trips (which vary each quarter) offer a unique opportunity to see California and experience American culture with fellow students and Recreation Program Leaders. Field trips are subject to change.
